I have decided to use 3 males for my band, these males were chosen specifically to match the genre and to show that they have individual looks.I have two males that will be playing brothers, I have chosen two males that have similar personalities that bounce off each others energy which I believe will help me, I have worked with the two males before for other lesson's such as photography for shoots therefore I know that both are reliable as they helped me and came up with new ideas for me as they got into their roles quickly. The third band member is had to changed due to last minute cancellation due to illness, however as a back up plan we had someone already in mind. Below are the band members names in which I will explain in more detail as to why I have used these people for my music video.
Brother 1/ Tom, played by Thomas Grace-
Lead Singer/ Russ, played by Russ Golub-
Mother, played by Sharon Grace-
Director and Camera work, Ewelina Stefaniak and Lauren Chapman-
We chose to work together for the music video as we worked together last year, we do not find it difficult to meet at the same time as both of our jobs are flexible with the hours. We have knew each other for a very long time which puts us in a good position as we both have a similar style. We both chose the song by sending each other our favourite songs from the genre we chose, in which we both ended up listing "Amsterdam" which was obvious for us to use as we both liked the song. After choosing the song, we annotated the lyrics to get a basic idea for our storyline to create our storyboard, in which we planned each scene by writing what second every part would be and what lyrics would be part of the performance. For the camera work we both had a camera each so that we could get different angles and more shots to use.
Editing and Promoting, Ewelina Stefaniak-
Everyone needs a starting block in their career and this is mine, because we have to edit our work separately this opportunity has allowed me to challenge myself more and to prove how much my skills have improved from my AS work, my aim for this year was to improve my editing skills as I want to do my video better this year by using my previous skills, asking for help and to play around with Premiere Pro more to understand the programme better to achieve the best grade I can. Due to studying Photography for 4 years I am familiar and confident with using Photoshop, which will help me to create my logo, poster and digipack. For promoting my bands music video and album I will be using my skills from my Travel and Tourism, in which I got the chance to create a website for a product which I had to create myself for the industry.
Brother 1/ Tom, played by Thomas Grace-
I have chosen Tom to play as two characters, he is one of the brothers and plays the drums in the band. The reason why he was chosen for one of the brother's roles was because his personality fits into the role, he is also very easy to get hold of which is useful as I have worked with him before for this lesson as he was used in my AS media videos and he did not let me down. He also likes to get to know what he is doing before to get prepared so that he can get into his role a little more, because I see him often I could easily sit down with him and show him my planning and my ideas in which he even acts upon with his own suggestions in which he thinks would work. The reason as to why I chose him to also be a part of the band was again for the same reasons, this is because in my music video I wanted the brothers to be in the music video so that it showed their relationship and how the band started as my aim if I was to carry this on would be to show more music videos showing how the band came together. Tom is also a very calm person that is organised, he likes to get thing over and done with as soon as possible to have extra time for improvements, which is like me which I believe will have definitely put me into an advantage. Tom also listens to the indie genre as we are both fans of Imagine Dragons, we both love their old stuff as they are very calm compared to their new songs which are more upbeat and stronger.
Brother 2/ Albie, played by Alex Hallam-
Albie is a nickname for Alex which has stuck with him before I knew him, I decided to use his nickname for his band name as I think that it is more unique and bold. I have chosen him to be in my music video as I have used him before for my Photography work, in which he did not disappoint me as he gets into his role, what I like about him is that he gets the work done but he also makes you enjoy working with him, he tries to take the pressure away by making everyone laugh, I think that this is a good idea to have due to the fact that doing this music video is the final important video we are making for this course therefore there is a lot of pressure on us to get it right the first time and to show off our skills, to show we have improved from AS and to enjoy it. Albie and Tom are close friends, they both get on very well which is again an advantage as there won't be any tension, they also look slightly similar due to height and their personalities bounce off each other which I have already mentioned which again is another great point as to why I have chosen to work with both of them. Albie listens to the indie genre, however he prefers more of the upbeat type of songs from the genre as he looks more positive songs that keep him happy, therefore when I told him the chosen song he was happy there were some elements of stronger beats for him to get into as he was looking forward into that the most.
Russ was a last minute back up lead singer, the original lead singer was ill on the day, therefore from the night before I had to try to get hold of the back up lead singer to see if he was still available as the day of filming the performance was one of the last days we could all meet up together, so we had to make the most of it. Russ has a very indie style of clothing such as the cool jackets, he likes to wear unique jewellery, he has the typical messy hair, and even his personality matches as he can show he cares but can show he doesn't in which we needed both for the video. Russ has a very strong memory in which helped us when filming the music video as he remembered the lyrics quickly, although he does not tend to listen to the indie genre he does listen to alternative rock more which is similar to the genre as it is a little more heavier, therefore this helped to add a new look to the video as he brought in his own style and idea of the band aim and look.
Mother, played by Sharon Grace-
I chose to use Tom's mum as the role due to myself wanting a mother that does look similar to at least one of the brothers. She easy very easy for me to get hold of which has helped me with filming, I have explained to her exactly what needs to be filmed and the reason behind it so she can get into her role which does suit her as she is a mother. She also adds her own suggestions and asks questions to make sure what she can and can't do in my videos which I like as it shows her interest. Due to her being a mum, she will be able to get into the scene more as she will know how to act when the brother's call her as any mum would do anything for their children even if they are adults.
Lover, played by Ewelina Stefaniak-
For the role of the lover I decided to be part of my music video, this is because whilst filming I knew it would be easier to have less people involved to avoid disappointment, therefore what better way of making the most of myself already going out to film. As I have old photos of me and Tom it was also easy to use an old photo for the video to do a pull focus to show the old and the new change. Also as I knew I would not be a part of the video much I did not mind playing the role, it was easy for me to get into the role as I created the role anyway in which I found easy to do.
